Based on the users’ tasks, we create formats: guidelines for structuring and creating content. A format exactly states which demands each text or image must meet. Formats come in various shapes: for instance, as a summary page with text blocks, a chart, a table, a form, or a detailed text page. It is vital that the editors can and are willing to work with it.

Personas are fictional customers, or users of your website. A persona will help editors to empathize with the target groups. After all, you don’t write a text for ‘the Internet’ but rather for Matthew, Faisal, or Linda. You use them as benchmark for (re)writing content, for a new classification of subjects in the navigation, or for choosing an appropriate photo.
